HOMICIDE DETECTIVES CONTINUE THEIR INVESTIGATION INTO A DEPUTY-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN MONTGOMERY
Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting. The incident occurred on Friday, March 8, 2024 at approximately 07:50 PM, in Montgomery.
Homicide Investigators have learned that during routine patrol duties, LSSD deputies performed a traffic stop on a black Premier model vehicle. During the stop, three male (3) individuals (henceforth known as "suspects") exited the vehicle and stood beside it. A few moments later, the suspects re-entered the vehicle they were previously occupying before exiting once more, presumably to obtain firearms from within.
One of the suspects was visibly seen holding a firearm and a deputy involved shooting occurred. The suspect made contact with the deputies and discharged his handgun at them, with the deputies responding with lethal force after obtaining cover. During the exchange of gunfire, the suspect was struck at least twice by the deputies but managed to flee the scene on-foot alongside the other two suspects.
No description of the suspects is currently available. The suspects' whereabouts are currently unknown. Two deputies were severely injured from the incident and are currently recovering.
This investigation is in its preliminary stages and there is no additional information available at this time.
Whenever a deputy-involved shooting occurs involving Los Santos County Sheriff’s deputies, multiple independent investigations immediately begin at the scene. These include separate investigations by the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau.
