HOMICIDE DETECTIVES CONTINUE THEIR INVESTIGATION INTO A DEPUTY-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN SAN FIERRO

Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting. The incident occurred on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at approximately 03:38 PM, at Chinatown, San Fierro.

Homicide Investigators have learned that during regular patrol duties, a LSSD deputy witnessed a vehicle speeding and promptly pulled the vehicle's driver over. After learning that the driver had unpaid citations, the deputy requested an additional unit to his location so that he could perform an arrest on the driver (henceforth known as the suspect) in a safe manner. A minute following the request, the suspect fled the scene.

Deputies initiated a pursuit of the suspect. As the suspect proceeded to travel to Union Drive in San Fierro, deputies performed a PIT maneuver in an attempt to immobilize him - while successful, the suspect continued with the pursuit shortly after. A few minutes thereafter, the suspect crashed his vehicle into a wall at Chinatown, San Fierro while attempting to squeeze through an adjacent alleyway. When the suspect realized that his vehicle had been immobilized, he evacuated it, seemingly armed with a submachine gun.

The suspect sheltered behind his vehicle and a deputy involved shooting occurred. The suspect was struck by the deputies' gun firing and was unable to return fire. Upon ensuring that the suspect was no longer deemed a threat, deputies approached the suspect where he was pronounced dead on scene by medical staff shortly after.

No deputies were injured from the incident.

This investigation is in its preliminary stages and there is no additional information available at this time.

Whenever a deputy-involved shooting occurs involving Los Santos County Sheriff’s deputies, multiple independent investigations immediately begin at the scene. These include separate investigations by the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau or the Dillimore Detective Bureau.
